We heart mason jars and have found yet another great way to use this craft staple around the house. If you’re short on time, this is the perfect DIY project for you. All you need is five minutes and a few materials to add a little trendiness to your candles.
Prepare the lid. Grab the mason jar lid and flip it upside down. If the lid is in two parts, glue the parts together by spraying them with adhesive or using craft glue. Then, give the lid a good coating of spray paint in the color of your choice. Set it aside to dry.
Pick the fabric. Dig around in your craft drawer for some attractive fabric. We like the simple look of white lace for this project, but patterned fabric works, too.
Measure the fabric. Wrap the lace all the way around the mason jar lid to measure the length of fabric you’ll need. Then snip it with your scissors in the appropriate place. Safety note: If the fabric is taller than an inch or two when you wrap it around the jar lid, trim it down so the DIY candleholder isn’t a fire hazard.
Attach the fabric. Spray the adhesive in an even coating around the exterior of the mason jar lid and then quickly re-wrap the lace around the outside. Press the fabric firmly into the lid – you want it to really stick!
Light a candle. Place a candle inside the colorful, lacey candleholder and enjoy!
