If you’ve recently had a party or were spooked while holding red wine, you probably have a stain or two around your house. Keep your home free of stains by cleaning carpets and rugs with kitchen supplies like club soda, baking soda or white vinegar. You’ll prolong a costly carpet replacement and keep your house looking lovely with these quick fixes.
RED WINE: As soon as you notice the stain, pour club soda on it to dilute the stain. Wet wine stains will always be easier to remove than dry ones.
Blot the fabric with a paper towel from the outside edges of the stain in, to prevent it from spreading. Do not rub! Rubbing will only push the stain further into the fibers.
Next, rinse the club soda with cold water, gently blotting up the stain.
Sprinkle the area with baking soda, and vacuum.
BEER: First, blot as much beer up as possible with clean paper towels.
Mix two cups of warm water with one tablespoon of white vinegar, and sponge the solution slowly into the stain.
Use a spray bottle and rinse the area with cold water, then blot to remove excess moisture.
Let the area fully dry, then repeat as necessary until the beer stain is gone.
