Make Your Own Reusable Dryer Sheet

Large_dryer_sheet

WHY DO THIS?

When it comes to the simple pleasures in life, few things can beat the feeling of fresh-out-of-the-dryer, ultra-soft laundry. However, store-bought dryer sheets aren’t without their drawbacks. Not only do many dryer sheets contain chemicals, but the used sheet is just one more thing you have to throw away. Luckily, this is easy to avoid (and you won’t even have to sacrifice soft laundry).

15 MINUTES
EASY

What You'll Need:

  • liquid fabric softener
  • bowl
  • washcloth

How To:

  1. 1

Fill a bowl with liquid fabric softener. We like Seventh Generation's Free & Clear Natural Fabric Softener because it uses concentrated, plant-based ingredients instead of animal derived ingredients.

  2. 2

Soak a washcloth in the fabric softener. Using a bright washcloth that will be easy to spot at the end of the drying cycle is ideal. Soak your cloth for 5-10 minutes, and then remove and wring it out. Tip: Pour any leftover fabric softener back into the bottle.

  3. 3

Add to your dryer cycle. When laundry duty strikes, just toss that guy in with your wet clothes and run a normal cycle.

  4. 4

Reuse up to 20 times. This isn’t a one soak, one load situation. This DIY dryer sheet will keep softening for up to 20 loads before it needs to be re-soaked.
