No one said cooking required a strong arm. So what happens when you are faced with a cement-stuck jar lid? A completely acceptable dose of pissed-off. Your days of rubber rug-burn and throwing out perfectly-good pickles are over. We’ve solved the sticky lid situation -- and it doesn’t involve your impeccable pectorals!
Fill a small bowl with warm water. (It doesn’t need to be boiling, but close to it.)
Flip the jar upside down and place it in the bowl with the lid resting on the bottom.
Leave the jar for about 5 minutes.
Use a towel to open the lid with ease (and without burning your hand).
Also, don’t forget to wipe down the inner jar lid with the hot water and towel to avoid this problem in the future. If it’s super sticky, try wiping flour on the seal. (More fun uses for flour can be found here.)
