If your garbage disposal was a mouth, it’d be a disgusting one. It eats things like stale hummus, yogurt, and almond milk, but never really gets cleaned.
It’s time to do some dental hygiene on your disposal, and it’s super simple too. You can freshen and sharpen your disposal with this trick.
Write “garbage disposal” on the side of the ice tray, or somewhere where your guests will see that these vinegar ice cubes are not for cocktails.
Make a solution that is 1 part water and 8 parts vinegar in a separate container. Pour it evenly into the ice cube tray.
Peel the lemon and add small pieces of lemon rind to each cube. Freeze the concoction overnight.
Put three ice cubes in your disposal, turn on cold water, and run the disposal until the cubes are completely ground up. The acid in the vinegar will kill bacteria, the lemon will freshen the smell, and the ice will sharpen the blades.
