A gas cooktop caked with old food particles can attract rodents and insects, plus it makes your kitchen much more vulnerable to grease fires. Once you’ve cleaned the surface, you’ll also stop getting that nasty burning food smell every time you turn a burner on. You win, your kitchen wins, and your food wins!

Gas cooktops use natural gas or propane gas to regulate the amount of gas sent to each cooktop burner. It's important that the holes in the burners are unclogged so the gas isn't building up in the stove.
Remove the parts of the cooktop that are removable (cooktops with sealed burners usually have fewer removable parts than cooktops with unsealed burners). Give them a good cleaning in accordance with the manufacturer’s written instructions.
