Floral prints may not be a groundbreaking spring pattern choice, but we’ve noticed something different about floral design this year: it’s being shown on high fashion runways in more extreme, bright patterns than ever before! We think it’s time to wake up and smell the roses, because this warm weather trend isn’t going to wilt away anytime soon.

If you’re not ready to don the Vogue version of floral-print pants just yet, you can still embrace the floral trend. There are plenty of more subtle ways to incorporate this motif into your home décor! Here are five of our favorites:

Wallpaper. Floral wallpaper is back in style, and we’re gushing over all of the new-to-the-scene options. Printed wallpaper is perfect for adding a burst of fun to your home because it can give you design freedom you can’t find in a paint can (as long as you apply it correctly)!  Tip: If your room is smaller, avoid busy patterns as the intricate details may make the space feel cramped. Opt for lighter, larger patterns, instead.

Furniture. A single armchair can brighten up an entire room if it’s upholstered with a bold print. If you want to spring for floral furniture, follow this rule of thumb: The larger the piece, the smaller the floral print. This means that a big, sectional sofa will probably look a little out of place in your home if it’s covered in sunflowers that are equally as big. Tip: Avoid skirted bottoms or ruffles with these pieces to keep the room from feeling like it’s fresh out of the early ‘90s.

Floors. If your design taste does happen to lean towards larger, less detailed floral patterns, apply them to your floors! Large area rugs can still benefit from plant-based inspiration.

Accents. To experiment with this pattern in your home, start with accents. Our favorite way to test out a trend is with throw pillows. Flowery fabrics work great when combined with other bold patterns such as stripes or strong geometric shapes. Mix and match until you find a color scheme that works for you!

Bedding. A new duvet covered with delicate botanicals is an easy way to add a fresh, romantic vibe to your bedroom. Don’t be afraid to layer patterns – linens and pillow casings in different floral designs look great when paired! Tip: When layering, keep the background color (behind the flowers) the same hue for a cohesive vibe.
