Warning: If you have a massive scratch on glass, this trick likely won’t solve the problem.
But a small scratch? A tiny, annoying scratch? A scratch so subtle it drives you crazy but guests probably don’t notice it? Toothpaste will fix that. For the most scratch-fighting power, use whitening toothpaste. The same agent that gives you a pearly-white smile also works to minimize scratches in glass.
Here’s how to make the magic happen:
1. Squirt a dime-sized dot of toothpaste onto a clean, soft, dry cloth.
2. Vigorously rub the toothpaste onto the scratch for a full minute (buy don’t push down so hard that you break the glass, obvi). Check out the spot.
3. If that did the trick, wipe away the toothpaste with a damp cloth. Still see a scratch? Repeat steps 1 and 2 as needed.
