Want a clean house? Invite all of your friends over! Seriously. Parties are a great excuse to clean the house, because you want to show off your space in the best light. (And remove any embarrassing messes.)
Make pre-party cleaning a breeze by following these steps to spruce up your place before you throw down:
Take a lap through the entire house and make sure everything is in the right room. Don’t worry about putting it away yet – just bring it back home. Then you can go through room-by-room, starting with the “party rooms” like the living room and bathroom, and put everything away.
Your kitchen will look instantly better without dirty dishes in the sink. Wash the dirty dishes in the sink – or just load them into the dishwasher because your guests won’t know the difference – and then wipe down the sink and countertops.
Vacuum the open areas in rooms that will be party-central to pick up the worst of the dust and dirt. Take the time to create those classic I-just-cleaned vacuum marks. Looks good, right?
Repeat this same process with a broom on your hardwood and tile floors (minus the pretty marks). If you have an outdoor area, sweep the patio, too.
When you’re throwing a party, the one room you can pretty much guarantee everyone will visit at least once is the bathroom. Give your bathroom a quick scrub down (you only need about 5 minutes), make sure there’s plenty of paper and maybe lay out an US Weekly or two for reading pleasure.
