So, you’re ready to do some appliance maintenance? Awesome! You put on your grease-stained jeans, pull out the ‘ole toolbox and get ready to disassemble the appliance. But wait. What do you do next? Where is that owner’s manual? Frantically, you search through drawers, shelves and that box in the attic. Nothing. All of those helpful instructions and specific details are lost.
What do you do?
Don’t panic! Tracking down a digital version of most owner’s manuals only takes a few simple steps.
1. Find the brand, make and model number of your appliance. These are the three key pieces of identifying information for your appliance.
2. Do some searching online. In most cases, simply typing in the type of appliance you have (dishwasher, washing machine) along with “brand, make, model number” + “owner’s manual” will turn up a digital version of the manual. Many companies like General Electric and LG have an extensive database of online user guides and manuals. Tip: If that doesn’t do the trick, try adding “.pdf” to the end of your search. You can also try changing “owner’s manual” to “user manual” or “user guide.”
