You don’t need an extravagant design budget to fill your home with gold! Small accents, spray paint or gold leafing achieve the same elegant look as gilded pieces at a fraction of the cost. While we don’t recommend following in King Midas’ footsteps and turning everything you touch to gold, there are a few parts of your home that happen to look great in this metallic hue.

Glass

No matter what kind of glass you have at home, it will look regal when it’s dipped in gold. This works for vases, wine stems, champagne flutes and just about any other glassware you own!

Furniture

If you want your living room to be the center of all your social occasions, get your hands on some gold furniture pieces. Gold is very popular in feng shui, so use it to create an inviting atmosphere.

Silverware

Want to fancy up your flatware? Cue the gold paint! Gilding silverware may be one of the easiest DIY projects ever. For more how-to photos, check out Lovely Indeed.

Walls

Add a little shimmer to your accent wall with gold wallpaper, or arrange a photo gallery display with picture frames that are spray painted with a gold matte.

Candles

Take any long candlesticks you have for your dining table and dip the bottom halves in gold paint for a unique, gilded glow. If you don’t own a pair of long candlesticks, adding a quick coat of gold spray paint to the bottom of a pair of votive cups has the same effect!

Planters

Whether your flowerpots are located inside or outside, give them the royal treatment by adding a little gold paint. Use painters tape to plan out your design and remove the tape once the paint has dried.

Knickknacks

Sometimes it’s the little details that can make a big impression. If you’re not quite ready to go all glitz-and-glamour in one day, start with little knickknacks along a shelf or bookcase.
