Chances are you've encountered a clogged shower drain a time or two, which is generally a disgusting ordeal.
Instead of dealing with it after the drain is clogged, be proactive!
Once a week, pour one cup of boiling hot water down the drain.
Simply boil water in a kettle, and carry the hot kettle directly to the drain in question. Then pour. This weekly maintenance helps clear your pipes, and means you’ll be able to avoid the annoying dig-hair-out-dance or an emergency run to the store to pick up Drano.
Note: Cleaning wizards in the comments have pointed out that this won't dissolve trapped hair. That's a great point and we've updated the post. The boiling water is meant to dissolve soap, conditioner and other gunk on a regular basis before it creates a clog.
