It’s no secret that we’re big fans of inspired storage. We think that being organized can (and should) look cool. So it’s our great pleasure to introduce you to an item that does just that: IKEA Trones. What the heck’s a Trone? Glad you asked! Here's the BrightNest definition:

Trones: n. [ˈtrōnz’]: candy-colored, 20x15”, Jetsons-inspired, wall-mounted storage cabinets from IKEA that will artfully restore order to any room. See also: happy plastic contraption.

At $39.99 for a pack of three, these magical little contraptions are as affordable as they are versatile. Though officially designed for shoe storage, they can hold just about anything and look good doing it. So no matter where your clutter tends to accrue, Trones can help!

Since you’re still getting used to the idea (and pronunciation) of these handy little helpers, we figured we’d offer some guidelines. Here are three notes for successful Troning:

1. Arrangement is an art. Since Trones come as a three-pack, you basically have a license to customize. They can be hung side-by-side or stacked. Or sometimes, a room only needs one. Be creative when hanging, addressing the unique needs of each room – whether that means three units stacked atop each other or a funkier, elaborate arrangement.

2. Color counts. IKEA isn’t messing around with their Trones color tones. In addition to basic black and white, the units come in bright red and lime green. Harness these colors for the greater home décor good! Alternate black and white for a sharp, clean statement or use the colored versions to enliven an otherwise blah room.

3. Embrace the shelf. The magic doesn’t stop with storage. Trones also feature a recessed area on top that opens one of two design doors: 1) allowing for seamless stacking or 2) functioning as a display shelf for small items. Tip: If you go with option #2, fill the space with plants, picture frames or other design staples to prevent it from becoming a clutter catcher.
