We all have those days. The smell of your fridge punched you in the face when you woke up, you tripped over a pair of shoes on the way to the bathroom or you cab’t wait get three feet out of your bedroom without sneezing from the dust explosions.

We’ve all been there. It’s pretty miserable.

Here’s a quick list of common annoyances that may be killing the mood at home, and how to fix them:

1. Shoes Everywhere

When you’re getting ready in the morning, what sucks more than tripping over shoes?

The Fix: Picking up all errant shoes once a day will open your floor space and certainly brighten your day. If you need a place to put your shoes, check out these four, cheap shoe organizer ideas.

2. Dirty Dishes Left in the Sink

A sink full of dishes is an easy thing to ignore when you’re busy, but the bigger the pile, the more miserable it will be when you finally get around to dealing with them.

The Fix: Wash your dishes every night before bed and be less annoyed every morning. Woot!

3. Bookshelves Coated with Dust

Dusting your bookshelves once a year only makes your bookshelves look great one time. What about the other 364 days in the year?

The Fix: Once a week, take a quick wet rag to pick up the dust and organize the clutter.

4. Art On The Floor

Leaning art against the wall to hang up later is like living out of a suitcase. Take the time to decorate your space. (Unless you’re all about intentionally leaning art for a unique look, make it look like you did it on purpose with these tips.)

The Fix: When you buy a piece of art, take the time to think about where you’d like to hang it. Then, do it the right way and be done with it.

5. An Empty Fridge

Want to blow through all of your money? Eat out every meal. Going to the grocery store can be a pain, but having food at home will save you cash. Plus, you’ll always have something healthy to snack on, which is helpful.

The Fix: Once a week, plan out your meals. Then, buy the groceries you’ll need to make your menu plus a few healthy snacks to tide you over in between meals. To make it less of a pain, shop during your lunch hour. You’ll beat the rush.

6. Silence

Sometimes silence is exactly what you need to relax. But, constant silence can be a negative.

The Fix: If you need a pick-me-up, try putting on some tunes to brighten your mood. We recommend this playlist for a shake-your-rump great time.

7. Blocked Passageways

Constantly kicking over bags, shoes and outerwear makes for a lousy living experience. Also, if you’re noticing that you keep stubbing your toe on the dresser in the hallway, it’s time for a furniture swap.

The Fix: If your stuff is everywhere, it means your organization system isn’t working for you. Rethink your system and give your things better storage. Once it’s changed up, make sure you actually use it! If you don’t, switch the system up again.
