It’s New York Fashion Week, but we believe that fabulous isn’t exclusive to fashion. Bring glam off of the runway and into your home with these four tricks:

Gold. Whether your décor is 24-karat or gold leaf, having the Midas touch will make any room look luxe. Pair your gold with classical pieces to give the impression of heirlooms, or add gold in unexpected places like your kitchen counter for a funky, modern touch. For just a little gold, bling out a simple cereal bowl with gold leaf. If cereal bowls don’t fulfill your gold craving, be bold and try this wallpaper from Hygge & West.

Glitter. This kindergarten craft-time staple has made its way into the fashion big leagues. To ensure that your glitter looks glamorous instead of little-girly, go subtle by mixing it with elegant, sophisticated pieces like a basic sofa or leather furniture. Next time a celebration calls for a toast, sip bubbly in style with this glitter DIY project from something turquoise. All you need for glitter flutes is craft paint in glitter and a foam applicator!

Bright Lights. Models know that lighting is the most technically important aspect of any photograph! Give your rooms a lighting makeover by replacing humdrum fixtures with glamorous chandeliers. From formal dining rooms to bathrooms, chandeliers add a sense of luxury at an affordable price. Scour your local thrift store for old, brass chandeliers and then follow these instructions from Crafty Nest to make it over. Where will you put a chandelier in your home?

Faux Fur. From vests to jackets, faux fur is a fall staple of the fashionable and glamorous. Bring this trend into your home for a warm and cozy addition. Throw around a few faux fur pillows or drape a blanket or two on furniture. If you’re unsure about trying animal prints, change your mind immediately. Even the most conservative décor can handle a subtle cheetah print or a bear rug. Trust us!
